Crunchy Onion Rings

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper
1/2 pack MAGGI MAGIC SARAP
1 cup cold soda water
3 pieces white onions, cut into ¼ - inch rings
3 cups crushed NESTLÉ Cornflakes mixed with
1 cup Japanese breadcrumbs
vegetable oil for deep-fat frying

Ingredients for the Dip: combine -
1/2 cup NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream
2 tbsp vinegar
1/2 tsp mustard
2 cloves garlic
salt and white pepper to taste

PROCEDURE

  1. Mix the flour, cornstarch, cayenne pepper and MAGGI MAGIC SARAP in a bowl.
  2. Slowly add soda water and stir to make a batter and keep in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to stabilize.
  3. When ready to cook, dip prepared onion rings into the batter and dredge in crushed cornflakes.
  4. Heat oil and deep-fry onion to a crisp. Transfer on a plate with paper towel to drain excess oil. Serve with the dip on the side.
