HOMEMAKING TIPS

Reward Yourself: Couples-At-Home Pampering Ideas

Getting a proper pampering need not be an expensive endeavor.

Marriage is hard work! You and your spouse need to take some time to reward yourself with a pampering date. The good news? You can totally do it right at home, just follow these tips!

Massage
Select some relaxing music, and dim the lights. Instead of lotion which gets absorbed quickly, choose an essential oil such as lavender, and put some drops on your hands. Concentrate on the upper back for at least 15 minutes. This is where most of the body's tension is located, so smoothing out the knots here can do wonders for the rest of the body. Pinch the upper shoulders, and knead tight spots in the lower back, and run fingers under the shoulder blades.

Sauna
Set your shower to its hottest temperature, and let it run for around 20 minutes. On a warm face towel, put several drops of an essential oil like lavender or vanilla. Step into the shower with your spouse, and lay the wash cloth over your face and breathe deeply. This is a fantastic way to sooth tired muscles and clear sinuses.

Body Scrub
Use a scrub that warms up when you rub it all over your body for that extra-relaxing experience. Otherwise, heat your body scrub by placing it inside your DIY sauna (see above) or setting it on top of a heating vent. Start scrubbing each other with three, slow strokes on the following areas: calves, thighs, arms, chest, and back. When finished, hop into the shower and use a moisturizing cleanser and your body is guaranteed to feel oh-so-buttery smooth.

Mani/Pedi
If you're wearing nail polish, start clearing your nails with a nail polish remover. Cut each other's nails to the desired length, remembering that cutting straight across is always best. Next, buff your nails until they are a smooth shape. Then dip nails in a relaxing soak (water with essential oils will do) for about five minutes. Pat dry, and then soften your cuticles by rubbing a bit of oil on them.

Foot Spa
Fill your chosen tub/container with warm water. Make sure it's enough to cover feet up to the ankles. Add milk, along with some rock salt, plus some drops of essential oil. Let your feet soak for about 20 minutes. Exfoliate with foot scrub. Rinse your feet, pat dry, and rub some moisturizing cream.
